š¤ Brand Ambassadorships: The key to going full-time in Web3
There are two types of paid content creators in Web3.
Creator #1: Fighting for every brand deal. The moment that a deal finishes, theyāre back at zero, needing to hunt for their next deal, and constantly feeling burnt out. Theyāre stuck in a hamster wheel.
Creator #2: A creator who wakes up at the start of each month seeing that theyāve already been paid. They sit down and make content that they enjoy creating, their costs are covered and any additional deals are a bonus.
Which creator would YOU want to be?
Creator #2 right?
Well, the funny thing is, that thereās no real difference between the creators themselves.
They could be the exact same person, in fact Iāve been both of these people.
The differentiator is their deal structure with the brands they work with.
Creator #1 is hunting for sponsorships
Creator #2 is hunting for ambassadorships
Ambassadorships is what you want šÆ
This is where you form a longterm partnership with a brand, and get paid every month for producing content for them.
This model is way better because:
ā You get consistent income.
ā You get to work with a brand that you actually like.
ā Content is easier to make because you know the brand well.
So that sounds great but how do you actually get these deals?
Thereās three key factors that make getting ambassadorships WAY easier.
1ļøā£ Start small, then build up.
Think of it like dating before getting married.
Start with a one off deal with that brand.
This gets your foot in the doorā¦
And then now that they have a relationship with you, reach out to explore if there is an opportunity to work together longterm.
This is particularly effective with projects that have just had a successful launch, especially if you were a part of their pre-launch campaign.
You can find these one off deals through Creators Nexus, Bricktopians and many other deal-flow aggregators.
2ļøā£ Pitch brands that you actually use
Youāre loving a new ordinals marketplace?
Reach out to them.
Youāre loving a new NFT project that just dropped its collection?
Reach out to them.
If you truly love a brand, you will stand out so heavily against creators who are just looking to get paid.
Perfect example is Kelano joining Persona recently, to become a longterm partner in what theyāre building.
3ļøā£ Be worth sponsoring
This sounds obvious, but itās super important to think about.
When a brand looks at you, if they see too many reposts on airdrop farms,
Or content that doesnāt align with their brand,
It will make it harder to close a deal.
The way to stand out is to either align your content to the brands that you want to work with, or reach out to brands that fit your current content style.
(e.g. if you post about Web3 gaming, game brands will be a strong fit)
š Become Better:
š¤ Theres āRiches in the Nichesā
This is what I learnt from an entrepreneur earning $20k+ per month with less than 10k followers.
Yesterday I met one of the most impressive Web3 entrepreneurs Iāve spoken to in a while.
Heās someone who has less than 10k followersā¦
Goes completely under the radarā¦
And yet heās making more money in Web3 than 90% of entrepreneurs that I know.
And the best partā¦ Heās not stressed or burnt out like most people I meet.
In fact heās got so much free time he just got back from a holiday kite surfing in Sardiniaā¦ šāāļø
So how does he do it?
He plays in a game with zero competition.
While everyone focusses on ETH, SOL and the bigger chains,
He found a blockchain that has a lot of activity, but no marketing agencies that are focussing on it as an ecosystem.
This has allowed him to become the #1 guy for marketing a launch on that chain, and whenever someone asks a successful projectā¦
āWho helped you with your launch?ā
They always refer the business to him.
(He doesnāt even need to post about it to get leads which is insaneā¦)
If thereās one thing Iāve learnt in Web3, the best opportunities are in the areas that no one is paying attention to.
Donāt underestimate micro-niches, this is where YOUR opportunity is.
If youāre a rising creator and you feel underrated, I highly recommend exploring other chains.
On ETH you may feel like youāre competing with creators who have 100k followers,
But in emerging ecosystems, you can be the big fish in the small pond.
šæ Feel f*cking fantastic:
šļø Maintain a habit by showing up
Small hack that Iāve found super helpful this year.
The best way to maintain a habit, even when work gets intense,
Is to make sure you still show up (even if you donāt do the full amount).
This means:
ā”ļø If you donāt have as much time for content this week, just post one tweet per day (even if itās just GM).
ā”ļø If you donāt have a heap of time to exercise, make sure you still go to the gym, even if you just do a 15 minute warm up exercise and leave.
This makes it so that you donāt accidentally forget your habit, only realising weeks later that you stopped.
Instead you hold the fort and maintain your momentum, ramping it up to full capacity when youāre ready to get back into attack mode.
šŖ Alex is Coaching
Iāve been having a heap of requests in my DMs for coaching on getting paid as a creator in Web3.
So Iām starting up my consulting / coaching.
What weāll go over in these sessions:
Ā· How to get more deals as a creator
Ā· How much you should charge
Ā· How to build your network so that it brings you deals
Ā· Who specifically you need to network with
Ā· How much engagement you need to be sponsorable
Ā· How valuable you are right now for sponsors (and how to increase this)
ā Who this is for:
Ā· Creators with 2,000 to 10,000 followers
Ā· Getting 600+ views per post (and solid engagement)
Ā· Creators looking to get their first sponsorships
Ā· Creators wanting to grow their revenue
ā Who this is not for
Ā· Creators with less than 2,000 followers
Ā· Creators with less than 600 views on average per post
