🤝 How big you need to be to get paid in Web3
GM Friends 👋
Earlier today we ran an awesome group call in Bricktopians, with a heap of people asking me questions about getting paid in Web3,
So today I’m doing a deep dive on a lot of those answers.

🤝 How big you need to be to get paid in Web3
💼 The most underrated service business in Web3 (that you can start right now)
🏃♂️ Slow down to go faster
Before we jump in…
My Web3 Jobs site has really started ramping up.
We’ve been making a tonne of changes and increased the frequency of our site scanning for jobs.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can find it at 👉 https://www.web3-jobs.xyz/

🧲 Attract an audience:
🤝 How big you need to be to get paid in Web3
This is a question I get asked every single day.
And the good news is, I’ve got the answer.
I speak to a TONNE of sponsors about smaller creators,
(Something I do inside Bricktopians is help rising creators get sponsorships)
And they all say the same thing.
For a creator to get their first sponsorships, you need:
1️⃣ 2,000+ followers
2️⃣ 500+ views per post (even better if you get solid engagement)
So if you’re below this threshold, how do you hit these targets?
The playbook is super simple:
Firstly: Get on Spaces ASAP. If you have a low following, that means that most people on a Twitter Space won’t be following you already (which means that in every space there’s HEAPS of potential new followers for you).
When you speak on a space and get followers, those followers are also people who like YOU FOR YOU.
This means that they’re the type of people who like what you have to say and are more likely to engage with your content on the timeline.
Secondly: Find a friendship group. (Not an engagement group, not a like-for-like group, a real friendship group). There are some awesome group chats and Discords that are run by people like Captain Scarlet.
This is where you will find a group of people who support each other, help each other grow and make the journey fun.
🍄 Become Better:
💼 The most underrated service business in Web3 (that you can start right now)
Most people I speak to want to go full-time in Web3 but don’t know how.
When you’re under 10k, sponsorships are awesome, but they’re unlikely to provide enough solid income to help you go full time.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t generate massive income right now.
What you need to do is create a service.
This is where you use your current reputation to help you get clients for work that you do.
(This is different to being paid for your audience)
Within this approach, there are many services that are super popular and super lucrative right now (e.g. Ghostwriting, Social Media Management, etc.)
If you’re looking to make a solid income, I’d consider offering a combination of these services.
But there’s one service that is heavily underrated for how many benefits it creates…
Paid Space Hosting 🎙️
Being paid to be a space host is a god-tier service as someone who’s a content creator or generally super active in Web3.
I learnt this from Kelano when he took me out for dinner and explained that as a paid space host, you get paid to:
Speak on large stages, which grows your audience as you do it. (You literally get paid to get followers)
Connect directly with the founders of the biggest brands in Web3
Speak to other creators you normally wouldn’t get access to
The work itself generates more clients for you, because of the fact that you’re doing it in public
You keep your ‘finger on the pulse’ of every news story that happens in Web3
And if you’re good — you generate a super high hourly rate for your work.
It’s insane how overpowered this is.
If you’re trying to go full-time in Web3 as a creator, or as a job, I highly recommend developing your space hosting skills and keeping an eye out for position openings at Unfungible.
🌿 Feel f*cking fantastic:
🏃♂️ Slow down to go faster
Web3 is 24/7, and honestly most of the people you see on the timeline are burnt out when you speak to them behind the scenes.
I lowkey hit that wall way more times than I’d like to admit.
But I’ve found a rhythm that works well for continuing to make progress whilst also recovering.
It’s stupidly simple. So simple it almost feels odd to write about, but it’s been helpful to me so I’ll share it here.
1️⃣ Sleep one hour more than usual (I normally wake up at around 6:30am, instead I wake up at 7:30am).
2️⃣ Finish work one hour earlier. (This means if you work right up until you go to bed, deliberately shut down the computer an hour before resting)
For me, I call this my recovery pace and it’s been making my Web3 work MUCH more enjoyable.
Try it for yourself and let me know how you go 🫡
One more thing ✋
If you’re a creator that fits in that sponsorable bracket of 2,000+ followers & 500+ views per post, send me a DM on Twitter.
I’m working hard to get more creators paid, especially those in our Bricktopians family.
