💎 This Web3 creator has perfected his branding:

GM Friends 👋

I’m back.

Last week I took a week off to start thinking about the direction I want to take this newsletter.

The two paths I’m thinking about 🤔:

1️⃣ Keep it the same — 3x articles on audience growth, business & health

2️⃣ One core story — A central story that you can read in 3 mins or less (covering something I’m interested in or passionate about that week) + bonus links to extra things I’m finding useful.

I would love to hear from YOU 🫵 — Reply 1 or 2 to let me know which direction you’d want to read.

Today, we’re testing format #2, let’s dive in 👇

💎 This Web3 creator has perfected his branding:

So many creators talk about branding.

“You need to have a clean bio”

“You need to have a nice banner”

They do a minimalist background, add their name with some text and call it a day.

But that’s not a brand, a brand is built by two things:

  1. Being memorable

  2. Having consistency across everything you do

This is where today’s featured creator Joseph kills it.

Firstly, he’s got the basics perfect. It’s easy for me to tell who he is, what he does, and what makes him unique in Web3.

Not 100 different tags to brands he’s done one piece of content for. Clear and direct sentences on what he does right now.

So when you first find Joseph, his profile is clean, that’s a good start.

But it’s not enough to be memorable.

So what is it that makes him go from having a good brand to a GREAT brand?

It all comes down to two key elements:

1️⃣ His use of colour 🟨

Every time I see a post from Joseph, it has his signature Yellow.

(btw I’m colourblind, so pls don’t kill me if it’s orange lmao) 💀

It’s in the border of his posts, in the text of his content and even used in the annotations and boxes when he’s making detailed graphics.

But his use of colour in his brand goes even deeper than that. It’s even in the emojis he sends in his messages:

Sending a yellow heart is subtle. So subtle most people wouldn’t even think to do it.

But I never receive yellow hearts from anyone.

So when Joseph sends them it: 1. catches my attend AND 2. builds his place in my mind even further.

Now whenever I see any yellow emoji (not even just hearts) I think of Joseph.

(Which means he’s succeeded in building his brand in my mind, and succeeded so much that I’m now writing an article about it.)

2️⃣ His graphics are just a little bit higher effort than most of what we see on the timeline (and have variations in styles which keeps them refreshing).

This one below is my favourite. Notice how the post is about ghostwriting, and this graphic was clearly made specifically for this piece of content (by having a ghost hand within it):

So what can you learn from Joseph and how can you use these strategies for yourself?

  1. Find something that you want to associate yourself with and commit to it. For Joseph it’s the colour yellow. For Pix, he’s just done this by starting a newsletter called Touching Grass. If his newsletter grows to be massive, everytime someone sees the phrase ‘touch grass’ — they will also think of Pix.

  2. 10% higher quality stands out much further than you think. There are MANY people who do personalised graphics, but Joseph taking the time to make it more specific to his exact content AND having variations in styles, makes it so that he is significantly more memorable as a creator.

  3. Your personal brand can stretch beyond what you post. You can keep it going in DMs, convos and even the clothes you wear. Unfungible do an awesome job at this on Telegram, sending personalised stickers with Leon Abboud and other team member’s faces on them:

If you enjoyed this story and you learnt something from Joseph’s brand, make sure to show him some love by giving him a follow here 👉 Joseph.

Before we wrap, this is what has been making an impact in my life this week:

1️⃣ This audiobook has single handedly saved me 15 hours of work per week. Every week I’m using more of what I’ve learnt in it to ‘buy back my time’

2️⃣ This is one of my favourite conversation tactics (in a 44 second video) that has made all difficult convos that I’ve encountered (even small ones) so much easier

3️⃣ This is the main YouTube channel I listen to for Lofi while I work. As someone who uses music to focus, but finds lyrics distracting, this channel is perfect.

If you enjoyed this new format, let me know by replying and saying hey 👋

Have a great weekend friends
